Veterinary Technician Assistant
POSITION TYPE/SCHEDULE:
Full time (40 hr/wk) or part time accepted, Monday-Friday only, no weekends or major holidays, some afterhours may be requested. 8-10 hour shifts with 1.5 hour lunch breaks.

JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides direct assistance to the veterinary technicians with patient care and treatment, monitoring of hospitalized pets, maintaining inventory, preparing prescriptions, performing routine in-house laboratory work, educating clients regarding veterinary care and procedures, and assisting with surgical procedures. The technician assistant operates under the supervision of the technician team leader and the practice manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Restrain animals in a safe, efficient and compassionate manner during examinations and procedures. Know how to properly handle difficult or contentious animals.
- Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism in all interactions with clients. Exercise compassion and care in all interactions with patients.
- Communicate with clients regarding the medical status of their pet. Provide accurate information to clients concerning fees, hospital policies and procedures, etc.
- Instruct clients as to what they should do prior to bringing their pets in for procedures, how to care for their pets after discharge from the hospital, how to administer medications, etc.
- Follow established procedures in order to assist technicians and veterinarians with examinations and facilitate the flow of clients and patients through the out-patient clinic.
- Review medical records and notes made by the admitting receptionist in order to discern the nature of the visit and any tests or procedures that may be needed.

- Willingness to assist with and perform other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of the procedures used for receiving, treating, and scheduling patients
- Knowledge of proper methods of animal restraint.
- Apply knowledge and skills in controlling/handling individual animal temperament.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal services.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments. Understand and carry out oral and written direction.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and proactively problem-solve and have good attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Competency in computer data entry and basic recordkeeping.
- Human relations skills to deal effectively with visitors/customers in person or on the telephone.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
CONDITIONS OF WORK:
Active, on your feet for 8-10 hours per day and requirement to lift up to 50 lbs.
POSITION PAY:
Starting pay at $15.00 per hour. Adjustments commensurate with experience. Regular raises are considered based on time with the company, efficiency with job position, and increase in responsibilities.
Production and bonus pay consistent with company profits.

Receptionist/Administrative Assistant

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Office Manager, this position performs general office or secretarial work of moderate difficulty and performs related work as assigned. This position involves developing and supporting clinic initiatives, programs, and/or projects. This position helps maintain the company’s mission by providing professional service to all incoming calls and office visitors, provides administrative support to other staff personnel, and assists with administrative tasks by providing clerical support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operates multiline telephone system to relay incoming and interoffice calls.
- Greets all visitors courteously, determines their needs, and assists them appropriately.
- Know the range of services the practice provides and the species it treats.
- Advise clients/recommend services for their pets.
- Differentiate and prioritize between routine cases and emergency cases; alert staff accordingly.
- Understand and use special record notations, and make appropriate notes in patient records
- Maintain medical records and understand medical record filing systems.
- Maintains mail and general email by assigning client/vendor followup to the appropriate staff.
- Maintains front office area ensuring cleanliness and organization.
- Responsible for constructing new client and new pet packages and associated inventory.
- File invoices, receive payments, and assist in maintaining accounts receivable/payable.
- Orders office supplies, obtaining approval from the Office Manager for any items over $100.00.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides support with all community and client communications and interactions including Chamber of Commerce functions and community outreach initiatives.
- Contributes to team effort by providing input on best practices for accomplishing company goals and seeks constant improvement for this position.
- Willingness to assist with and perform other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma, or equivalent, preferred.
- Human relations skills to deal effectively with visitors/customers in person or on the telephone.
- Demonstrated capability with organizational skills and time management.
- Good Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel).
- Ability to multitask and work under stressful conditions.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
CONDITIONS OF WORK:
Mostly sedentary. The ability to lift 50 lbs or less may be requested at times.
POSITION PAY:
Starting pay at $18.00 per hour. Adjustments commensurate with experience. Regular raises are considered based on time with the company, efficiency with job position, and increase in

Licensed Veterinary Technician

EDUCATION:
State license to work as a certified/licensed/registered veterinary technician in Florida
JOB SUMMARY:
The role of the licensed veterinary technician is to exercise their training and expertise in the clinicalsetting, assist the doctors to the fullest possible extent, to help improve the quality of care given to thepatients, and to aid the doctors in achieving greater efficiency. The veterinary technician assists inmultiple procedures providing care for animals including physical examinations, dental procedures,surgeries, immunizations, euthanasia as well as client education, marketing and inventory maintenance.This position requires a working knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs, common diseases; theirsymptoms, means of transmission, treatment and prevention, and other basic preventative health carerecommendations. The veterinary technician is under the direct guidance and supervision of theveterinary technician team leader and veterinarians.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine, surgery, and anesthesia.
2. Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights as well asproviding client education.
3. Perform technical procedures, surgical preparation and monitoring of patients.
4. Client education on wellness/preventative medicine, and assisting doctors in patient care.
5. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, kneel, bend, and properly restrain active animals.
6. Performing diagnostic tests and X-rays.
7. Placing catheters.
8. Collecting specimen samples.
9. Perform in-hospital lab testing and prepare specimens for outside labs.
10. Administering medications, vaccines, and treatments.
