Canine Comprehensive Wellness Profile
- Fecal DX: An intestinal parasite screen that checks for intestinal parasite ova(eggs) and hookworm, roundworm, tapeworm, and whipworm antigens.
○ What are antigens? Antigens are substances that trigger the immune system to fight infection.
- 4DX: This is a blood test that checks for heartworms (spread by mosquitoes), lyme disease, ehrlichia canis (tick borne disease most commonly found in tropical environments), and A. phagocytophilum/platys (tick borne disease, also known as “dog tick fever”).
- CBC: A complete blood count that analyzes the cellular components of the blood. Red blood cells (carry oxygen to tissue), white blood cells (fight infection and respond to inflammation), and platelets (help the blood to clot). The CBC provides details about the number, size, and shape of the various cell types as well as any abnormalities that could be present.
- Chem 27 w/ SDMA: SDMA screens the kidney function for your dog to help spot any early sign of kidney disease. Chem 27 screens 27 different blood system values to help determine organ functioning of the liver, kidney, and pancreas. It also checks the protein and glucose levels in the blood.
- Urinalysis: This is a complete evaluation of the urinary system that provides information about the kidney function, inflammation of the kidneys or bladder, some metabolic diseases (diabetes), and the presence of urinary crystals or bacteria
- Total T4: Screens for thyroid function in your pet. Typically dogs are found to hypothyroid and cats hyperthyroid as they age.
